DJ Qbot [aka Lisa
Q]:
I spin a pretty wide variety of styles, mostly electronic, including retro,
microhouse, electroclash, synthpop, ebm, industrial, noise, techno, most things
in between, occasionally some others, sometimes all of them. The playlist, of
course, depends on the event, the crowd, and sometimes whatever new music I
am currently excited about. It's not unusual for me to blend half a dozen genres
into one set, and if you look at the playlists you'll see what I mean; it can
go from new wave to powernoise in the span of 45 minutes. You might say I have
a short attention span, but no one ever told me that I'm a boring dj.
How I ended up with this job: About two years ago, my friend John insisted that
I dj a new night he was promoting. Having not touched a turntable in several
years, and never taken it seriously, I initially said no. Eventually he convinced
me to at least give it a try. It went very well, and next thing I knew I had
a regular gig. Then one thing led to another...
Now here I am years later, and people are still asking for me.
Keep an eye on the news page for regular and guest dj spots.
Currently I dj every Thursday night at Holiday Club, occassionally on WLUW on
Monday nights, and eventually I will resume my weekly live Retroforward Radio
show in addition to or as a podcast.
