THIS THURSDAY!

09.11.05
New playlists are up for your perusal, and I've noticed that Thursday nights are getting more and more eclectic. It's a fun night at a chill bar, and a great way to start the weekend.

Next week, November 17:
DJ Qbot
with special guests
DJ Piko*Piko website
Emulsion [dj set] website
for a minimalist electronic music showcase

21.10.05
Finally another update... and playlists for the last several weeks forthcoming.
Thanks to everyone who came out the last few weeks, we had a blast! I'm really excited to see so many people going out on a Thursday night.
Some news:
November 17, Kamar is going to be away, so I am going to play lots of things from labels Kompakt, Ghostly, Shitkatapult, BPitch, Hefty, Morr Music, etc. Special guest dj and more details to be announced in the next few weeks.

01.10.05
NEXT WEEK:
FRONT 242 VS NITZER EBB

[an entire night of 242/NE related music]

Much thanks to Evil E and the online 242 fans who helped us get the word out!

23.09.05
We are changing the Thursday night setup. Now, instead of DJ Qbot and Kamar, it will be DJ Qbot VS. Kamar. I'm going to set up my own booth on the other side of the room and drown him out for making fun of Gang of Four. Seriously, though, we are considering a Nitzer Ebb VS. Front 242 night next week.

...oh, and that rumor you heard about how we're going to do an old-school video game night? True! Check back here for more updates as that solidifies.

16.09.05
More playlists, less news. Still at Holiday, still Thursday, still free, still having a great time and playing a pretty eclectic selection of music if I do say so myself. See you next week!

BIG thanks to dj Tachyon for spinning a terrific set last week. If you missed it, well, we'll have to get him back in Chicago again sometime.

05.09.05
Yet another guest dj: this week at Holiday Club, we have special guest dj Tachyon from Salt Lake City. We are anticipating this event to be, um, rather noisy, and I can't wait. Let's show him how we party here in Chicago!

03.09.05
Thanks to everyone who made the WLUW fundraiser such a success, especially Scary Lady Sarah, Greg Haus, and Jesse de la Pena. We'll try to get them all back for some guest spots sometime soon. Speaking of WLUW...

LABOR DAY SPECIAL:: I will be on WLUW's Destination Unknown September 5 from 10pm-midnight [CST], click <here> for the webcast -or if you are in Chicago, tune in to 88.7.

30.08.05
Greg Haus did a surprise set for us on Thursday night. It was awesome, but if you missed it, come back next Thursday for our WLUW fundraiser. You can also check him out at Berlin [Belmont & Sheffield, Chicago] on Fridays.

20.08.05
Thanks to everyone who came to Holiday Club Thursday night, it was a lot of fun. For those of you who missed it, we'll be doing it all over again next week so I'll see you there.

Also don't forget:

Ok so it took more than a week, but here's the big news:

Every week! No kidding! We're really excited about it, especially the part where we're not really tied down to a format. Oh and did I mention that its like twenty steps away from the Sheridan Red Line stop? As if that wasn't enough, Pillbox79 is planning some visuals to project on the big screen over the dance floor. Big thanks to Tim and Holiday Club!

AND THAT'S NOT ALL... WLUW FUNDRAISER!
On September 1st, Kamar and I will be hosting a fundraiser for 88.7 WLUW with special guests Scary Lady Sarah, Greg Haus, and Jesse de la Pena. $5 cover goes to support your local indie radio station!

01.08.05
VERY BIG ANNOUNCEMENT COMING IN THE NEXT WEEK. FOR REAL.

01.07.05
Well, boys and girls, a lot has been going on over here:

BLUE ON RETROFORWARD IS ON HAITUS [until further notice] We're revamping the schedule, and I decided to abandon my Sunday night slot in favor of doing a shorter set on a different night. I"ll post here when I figure out when that is. In the meantime...

I've got a lot of other stuff going on, so I'll be concentrating on school [finally], whipping my new business into shape, and some real actual music work with Shinma and Ahab Rex that I am really excited about. Oh and in case you are still reading, I dug up a Mumbo Basic track and it told me that it really wants to see the light of day, so we'll have to get on that as well.

And one last thing. What seems like a gazillion years ago I started a yahoo group with some friends, involving the posting of events which curiously seem to consist mostly of concerts involving all those bands listed under "playlists" off there to your left. If you're around Chicago, we'd love to have you: click here.

05.05.05
WOW.
I think I've finally recovered. Sort of. Thanks to neworderonline and WLUW for throwing one hell of a party Tuesday night:

I haven't had that much fun in a long, long time. I'm a bad robot. I'm just now getting up the playlists from Sunday and Monday. My excuse is that I was working on this: www.shirtsforrobots.com

01.05.05
New playlists, busy stuff going on, does anyone know how this podcasting thing works? Email me please. TOMORROW NIGHT, Monday, I'll be on WLUW in Chicago again doing Destination Unknown from 10-midnight CST. If you live in Chicago, hear it on 88.7fm, the rest will need to get the webcast at www.wluw.org. Kamar will be off interviewing Peter Hook, and this time no, we're not going to just read someone else's interview. Also note that he'll be djing the New Order after party at Neo on Tuesday. See you there!07.04.05
What a party! Thanks to Tsurechka & Lex for inviting me to spin. Also big huge thanks to Ahab for making the sound come out of the speakers..."you broke something, you really are a dj"...hehe. Oh and I got some sweet new Lee Chameleon tunes hand delivered and its not even my birthday yet! I posted what I remember of the playlist, I wasn't very good about writing everything down this time.

Tsurechka tells me that there are going to be more of these parties, so perhaps there will be a sequel [though now that we know how the system works, hopefully not a sequel of the extensive technical difficulties ]. See you again soon, but in the meantime I'll be here.

28.03.05
Its been a little while, but I've got all the playlists updated, finally. The big news here is I will be djing at:

Spring Formal Art & Music Event

HighSchool
1542 N Milwaukee
[above Buddy Gallery-yeah, you know the one]
Wicker Park, Chicago
8-midnight, $5

Bellefea and Blueberry are playing, there's going to be art all over the walls, people all over the floors, and lots of fun in between. Come out and celebrate spring with us- see you there!

16.02.05
The pledge drive Monday went well, but we're going to have a sequel next week. Tune in to WLUW Monday night from 10pm-midnight CST and don't forget to pledge!

13.02.05
Another week, another playlist-this one dedicated to TRS-80. Tomorrow night I'll be on WLUW in Chicago guest djing with Kamar on Destination Unknown from 10-midnight CST. Those of you in Chicago can hear it on 88.7, the rest will need to get the webcast at www.wluw.org. In case you didn't know, WLUW is listener supported, so any contributions during our pledge drive will help keep the good music coming.

06.02.05
Website issue fixed...yay! If you are using Safari and you can see this, you have Rob from wentzmediadesign.com to thank, because he is an awesome webdesigner even though he doesn't use a mac.

31.01.05
UP UP UP for a limited time only!! Until I get the Shinma site redesigned, I am hijacking the empty space to put up one of my mixes. Its just over 50mb, so make a sandwich before you click. I made it for my buddy *Piko*Piko* at SmallAndRound last year. Go go go!

I am also this [ ] close to getting some other exciting stuff up here, check back -- hopefully I'll have an update later this week.

30.01.05
Wow its been a month and here I am again with Paul Savio from Battery Cage on my show again? This time, we're in Chicago.

14.01.05
Happy New Year!

I finally got the playlists updated, now its off to work on retroforwardradio.com. This week's show will be prerecorded so that I may watch TV Pow and Adrift at 3030 here in Chicago. In the meantime, I am preparing to do a set showcasing my friends' projects, so if that means you, get in touch.

I think I may have found a place to store my mixtapes for downloading. Check back soon and perhaps you will be able to hear dj qbot in full on club mix mode.
